Things people have said so far:
in one brief morning play session, TowerClimb has provided more memorable moments than some games provide after days of dedicated play. (Rock Paper Shotgun)
"It's a truly awe inspiring game, that gives me an almost indescribable feeling of wonder, and of being small in the shadow of something titanic; feelings I have not felt since Ocarina of Time. I'm in love, and thank you for making such a mystical and unique game." (email)
"You've truly created a masterpiece, and I honestly look forward to watching the game progress." (email)
"I must say, your game is truly fantastic. I've been pretty much obsessed with it since I first saw it a week ago, and I've been showing everyone I can. More than a couple friends are obsessed as well." (email)
"The game is fantastic, and oldschool, and tough as hell. Not sure why this game isn't getting more publicity, as it's so amazingly brilliant." (tigsource forums)
"This is a game worthy of every geek's attention, and the climb itself perfectly analogous to the brutal challenge and ecstatic reward of hardcore gaming. This is high-grade, old-school awesomeness, distilled into a singular, literally monolithic adventure. If Towerclimb doesn't get famous, we can pretty much pack it in and call it a day for indie games." (blog comment)
TowerClimb is a difficult and rewarding procedurally generated platformer.
The game borrows elements from the roguelike genre. If you die, you stay dead. Every time you start a new game, you are a different man.
A different adventure awaits each man. You will never play the same level twice.
Run, Jump, Swim, and Fly your way up the tower's atmospheric and lethal worlds. Quick thinking and strategy will keep you alive.
The game is difficult, but rewards patience, skill, and most importantly, problem solving ability. Quite often, The game throws your character into dangerous situations which require you to think very carefully about your actions.
If you die, It's most likely the result of breaking under the pressure, making a foolish decision in the spur of the moment, or making a foolish decision in the past (wasting resources). The game involves a certain degree of resource management. Waste your blessings and you will perish.
Discover and use (or be killed by!) a variety of items on your quest.
Original atmospheric soundtrack inspired by the best SNES era music.
The first half of the game is fully playable when you pre-order.
(TowerClimb uses low-resolution graphics infused with hardware accelerated lighting effects and rendering capabilities. Gameplay runs at 60 frames per second.)
